چکیده

Urbanization, without any iota of doubt, is one the leading factors modifying Earth’s surface because it has a significant impact on land cover changes and Land Surface Temperature (LST). This study assessed urbanization LST in Iseyin Local Government Area. Landsat images 22 years duration (2000, 2013, 2022) 30 m resolution were used study. The result showed that 2000, vegetation occupied 58538 ha (43%), built-up areas covered 2535 (2%), farmland 61248 (45%), rocky/hilly accounted for 3226 (2.4%), water bodies 431.17 (0.3%) while bare 8642 equivalent to 6.42% area. In area 3.4% (4577 ha), body 0.21% (281 35% (48136 48% (64352 11% (15944 ha) 1.02% (1376 ha). 2022, 6393 (4.8%), bodies, 515 ha, 33819 75999 respectively also 14346 3594 respectively. mean temperature value about 32oC, 27oC 29oC 2022 concludes largely affected types LGA increased between 2000 2022. therefore provided scientific reference policymakers develop effective sustainable policies LGA.

Impact of urban land cover change on land surface temperature

The rapid growth in urban population is seen to create a need for the development of more urban infrastructures. In order to meet this need, natural surfaces such as vegetation are been replaced with non-vegetated surfaces such as asphalt and bricks which has the ability to absorb heat and release it later. This change in land cover is seen to increase the land surface temperature. Previous stu...

Assessment of Terrain and Land Use/Land Cover Changes of Mine Sites using Geospatial Techniques in Plateau State, Nigeria

In this paper, we report a geospatial assessment of the selected mine sites in the Plateau State, Nigeria. The aim of this work is to determine the impact of mining on the terrain as well as the Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) of the host communities. The Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) is used for the terrain mapping. The derived impact of mining on LULC between 1975 and 2014 is determined...

Simulating Land Cover Changes and Their Impacts on Land Surface Temperature in Dhaka, Bangladesh

Despite research that has been conducted elsewhere, little is known, to-date, about land cover dynamics and their impacts on land surface temperature (LST) in fast growing mega cities of developing countries. Landsat satellite images of 1989, 1999, and 2009 of Dhaka Metropolitan (DMP) area were used for analysis. This study first identified patterns of land cover changes between the periods and...

Impact of land-use and land-cover changes on temperature trends over Western India

We study the regional variation of temperature trends (warming or cooling) over Western India and the contribution of land-use and land-cover (LULC) changes towards this warming or cooling based on temperature datasets of 37 years (1973–2009). The contribution of LULC to the warming or cooling is estimated based on deviation in temperature in the observation and reanalysis datasets. The observe...
